David Keohane

The family of an Irishman, who was severely beaten in Sydney's eastern suburbs a fortnight ago, say doctors do not know if he will ever recover.

David Keohane, 29, was found lying in a street at Coogee about 3:00am (AEST) on August 9.

He remains in a coma with severe head injuries at Prince of Wales Hospital, where his family members are keeping a bedside vigil.

His father, Tom Keohane, says doctors do not know if his son will ever regain consciousness.

"He was always smiling, whether he can smile again we don't know," he said.

Police have released CCTV footage of two men who were drinking at the Coogee Bay Hotel on the night of the attack.

Detective Inspector Paul Pisanos says witnesses saw them damaging cars in the street where David Keohane was found.

"We were able to locate some of david's personal property along the route that we believe these males took," he said.

He says the two men are of Pacific Islander appearance and one has a distinctive mullet-style haircut with a bleached top.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
